Department of Psychology New Research Laboratory

Psychology Lab

It's exciting times in the Department of Psychology as they recently had phase 1 of their new Psychology Laboratory receive funding approval. The new lab will be a complete renovation of the current Behavioural Sciences lab (EA2020), the former Archeology lab (EA2012), and an adjacent classroom (EA2010) into a state-of-the-art psychology research facility. The floor plan for the Psychology Lab was approved last fall and now that funding is in place, Phase 1 of the construction is expected to begin in summer 2014. Take a look at the graphic of the floor plan to see details of the proposed layout. When both phases are complete the facility will include a biopsychology lab, a computer lab and group testing facilities. The lab will also include a suite for eye-tracking, participant observations rooms, video recording facilities and a sound proof room for auditory research. As one faculty member commented: "The new lab will open up a huge number of research opportunities for Psychology faculty and our students." Many members of the department have been working on this project for several years including the former and current Chairs Anne Vernon and Evelyn Field respectively, as well as other current and former faculty members including Tony Chaston, Randy Genereux and many others.
